Fashion Trends for Fall 2008
Tim Hamilton takes his inspiration from 1930’s industrialized Europe and adds a fun twist on contemporary style. He just launched his newest creations at Uniqlo, the Japanese-based global retailer known for identifying the latest trends and quickly bringing those styles to the market. Hamilton’s line has an unbelievable price range beginning at $39.50 to $59.50. Each piece is contemporary with a hint and nod to the 1930s, without being trite.

You might not think of Converse and John Varvatos as likely collaborators, but the original style and essence of the Converse shoe and its adoption by rock musicians over the years fall right in line with Varvatos’ view of American style. Here he reclaims the Converse sneaker as the quintessentially cool shoe to wear, and he brings new bravado to the well-established line. If only Joey Ramone could have worn these Varvatos-designed Converse All-Star high-tops.

Later this year, mega-retailer Gap will roll out their latest Gap Designs Editions, which finds menswear front and center for the first time, as Michael Bastian lends a hand. Bastian’s contribution is comprised of a shirt with epaulets as well as a western-inspired shirt for this summer. Both are said to be priced at a meager $78, by Bastian standards. This capsule collection highlights the growing market for well-designed yet affordable menswear.
